Top 12 Ways to Protect Your Online Privacy

1) Do not reveal personal information inadvertently

2) Turn on cookie notices in your Web browser, and/or use cookie management software or infomediaries.

3) Keep a "clean" e-mail address.

4) Don't reveal personal details to strangers or just-met "friends".

5) Realize you may be monitored at work, avoid sending highly personal e-mail to mailing lists, and keep sensitive files on your home computer.

6) Beware of sites that offer some sort of reward or prize in exchange for your contact information or other personal details.

7) Do not reply to spammers, for any reason. (The newest: you get a login and password and are asked to login to gain access to a club page.)

8) Be conscious of Web security. (Look for encrypted sites when entering credit card and such)

9) Be conscious of home computer security. (Keep virus protection up to date and have a good firewall in place.

10) Examine privacy policies and seals.

11) Remember that YOU decide what information about yourself to reveal, when, why, and to whom.

12) Use encryption!

RSS is a method that uses XML to distribute web content on one web site, to many other web sites. XML stands for EXtensible Markup Language.

XML is designed to describe data and to focus on what data is.

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication
RSS allows you to syndicate your site content
RSS defines an easy way to share and view headlines and content
RSS files can be automatically updated
RSS allows personalized views for different sites
RSS is written in XML so you will need some experience in XML and HTML before you begin

Microsoftâs Flight Simulator 2004 A Century of Flight/Google Earth/Spirit of St. Louis

Pick a historical flight; have students research the historical significance for presentation.
Make the flight and track your progress on Google Earth. Knowledge of latitude and longitude will be practiced when marking your progress.
Make comparisons; How did your flight compare to the original? How did it contrast? How did factors such as weather, heading, and fatigue affect your outcome?
Prepare presentation on your findings and present them to the class.
Watch any historically significant videos of actual flight to close unit.
